NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Jan. 22 (PIA) -- Records from the Bacolod City Government showed that business permits registration has skyrocketed by23.2 percent in 2018 with 23,187 business permits compared to 2015 with only 18,817.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia underscored, "This is a solid indicator that we have restored business confidence. Even the business world has taken notice of the business climate we have created in Bacolod as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has listed us among the 'most business-friendly cities' in the country."
Leonardia further said that with the National Competitiveness Council's (NCC) recognition of Bacolod City as the 'most competitive city in the Visayas', it is now the city's intention to draw more investments and sustain this growth momentum.
According to the media release of the City Public Information Office, the city government has garnered awards from various organizations since 2017 as a testament of its business-friendly climate.
In 2017, the PCCI named Bacolod as one of the top three most business-friendly Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Philippines.
In the same year, the oldest newspaper in the country, The Manila Times, picked Bacolod as the top Philippine model city.
Moreover, Bacolod became a finalist again in the Most Business-Friendly LGUs Awards of the PCCI, and garnered first runner-up in "The Manila Times" Search for Top Philippine Model City, with a special recognition as Most Business-Friendly City in 2018.
Likewise, the NCC ranked Bacolod City as eighth placer in the Most Competitive Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs) in the Philippines, and first in the Most Competitive HUCs in the Visayas.
It was also last year when Lamudi, an online real estate marketplace, cited the city as one of the four fastest growing metros in the country in terms of property searches. (LTP/LML-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
