The LPGA announced that the 2020 Buick LPGA Shanghai has been canceled due to health concerns and travel restrictions related to COVID-19.
The event was scheduled to take place Oct. 15-18 at the Qizhong Garden Golf Club.
"Given the current health concerns and significant travel restrictions put in place due to the COVID-19, the LPGA can confirm that the 2020 Buick LPGA Shanghai, Oct 15-18 is cancelled further to the guidance of our partners, the China Golf Association," the LPGA said in a statement Tuesday night. "We thank SAIC-GM Buick, the China Golf Association, the CLPGA, and IMG for all their efforts and very much look forward to returning to Qizhong Garden Golf Club, Shanghai in 2021.
The LPGA returned to action two weeks ago following a five-month hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
American Danielle Kang won the first two events held in the Toledo, Ohio, area. However, many of the top international players opted to skip traveling to the United States, instead focusing on returning for this week's Ladies Scottish Open and next week's AIG Women's Open in Scotland.
