SANYA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Life confined to a wheelchair is not what Fang Jianze wants.

22-year-old Fang Jianze was born with EDMD (Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy), a rare muscle disease that slowly causes weakness in the shoulders, upper arms and calves.

However, Fang wants to break boundaries and reach far. He tried parachuting last June and earned a Handicapped Scuba Association certification this August.

He realized his diving dream in Wuzhizhou Island, a top diving resort in China and set a new personal best, reaching a depth of 14 meters.
