BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.11 percent, at 3,338.68 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.52 percent higher at 13,792.07 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 708.1 billion yuan (about 106.9 billion U.S. dollars), down from 869.6 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Stocks in baijiu (white alcohol), titanium dioxide and breeding sectors were major gainers, with shares of Sichuan Swellfun Co., Ltd. rising by 6.48 percent to close at 81.99 yuan apiece.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.71 percent to close at 2,700.51 points Thursday.
