OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Nov. 18 (PIA)--In line with the provincial government's Gender and Development and Nutrition Program and in support of women and children during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Province of Misamis Occidental headed by Governor Philip Tan distributed the nutritional support formulas to pregnant women, lactating mothers of 6-23 month old babies, underweight, and severely underweight children 36-59 months old in Ozamiz City.
The program aims to give emphasis on good maternal nutrition, proper infant and young child feeding practices.
The nutritional support is worth P2,357,262 consisting of ENOV MUM to 860 Pregnant and 1,239 lactating women, nutri butter to 3,567 aged 6-23 months, nutri milk powder to 197 underweight and severely underweight aged 36-59 months old, 62,970 sachets of nutritional support for pregnant and lactating women; 49,938 sachets for 6-23 months and 2,955 sachets for underweight and severely underweight 36-59 months.
They also distributed 6,336 packs of manna pack rice donated by HAPAG-ASA Foundation for the provincial feeding program, which is part and parcel for the First 1000 days program, 1,131 bars of Soap for Underweight and Severely Underweight children donated by Clean the World and Children International.
During the ceremonial distribution of nutritional support, Governor Philip Tan said, "Despite the hardship and lack of resources, we really want the people to feel that the province of Misamis Occidental is here. Even in a small way, we can help and reach the people in the city.
"Pinaagi natong tanan atong matagaan ug tabang ang nanginahanglan, ang simpleng problema atong matagaan ug simpleng solusyon."

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Aurora Virginia Almonte urged the women presidents and BNS to continue to implement and promote of good nutrition under the "One Province in Nutrition" capaign.
Ozamiz City President of Women's Federation Rebecca Orong thanked the officials of Ozamiz City and province for the nutritional support and honoraria amid COVID-19 crisis.
"Dako kaayo siya nga katabang kay sukad-sukad karon pajud nahitabo ang distribution ug labi najud sa honoraria," she said.
(This is a big help because for the first time the province distributed nutritional support and financial assistance.)
The province also gives honoraria worth P153,000 to all women presidents and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) amounting to P118, 800 for the month of January to June 2020 held at Barangay Malaubang, Ozamiz City. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
