LHASA, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Dondrup Wangyal, 79, was born to a serf family in Gangdoi Township.
For generations, Dondrup Wangyal's family had been serfs to a local lord family until the democratic reform in 1959 when he was truly emancipated and assigned with farmland.
"I was merely 17 then, but I would never forget the fact that the Communist Party of China saved me. And I determined to become a Party member," said Dondrup Wangyal.
Dondrup Wangyal once served as the secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) branch of Duoding Village.
Nowadays, his son Purbu serves in the post with support from local villagers. His grandson Dawa, also a Party member, teaches at a local primary school.
