TAGBILARAN CITY, June 3 (PIA) -- Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap received his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday morning.
Yap received the CoronaVac vaccine developed by Chinese drugmaker Sinovac BioTech.
"Ganinang buntag sayo, nagpabakuna ko ug Sinovac isip pagpakita ug suporta alang sa atong padayong pagbakuna sa katawhan batok sa COVID-19. Dili kita angay nga mahadlok nga magpabakuna tungod dugang kini nga proteksyon sa atong kaugalingon batok sa COVID-19 (This morning, I was vaccinated with Sinovac to show my support to the continued vaccination campaign. We should not be afraid to get vaccinated because this will give us added protection against COVID-19)," Yap said in a Facebook post.
Ron Zapatos, a nurse from Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, administered the vaccine to the governor at the Bohol Provincial Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Center, formerly the Bohol Medical Care Institute in Tagbilaran City.
The governor's inoculation was witnessed by Provincial Health Office (PHO) Officer-in-Charge Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez and Yap's chief of staff Giselle Quimpo.
Yap's vaccination came after the National Inter-Agency Task Force elevated governors and mayors to be part of the A1.5 bracket of the vaccination priority list.
As of June 1, 2021, a total of 17,073 individuals out of 38,494 have been vaccinated in Bohol by the Vaccination Team led by the PHO. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
