BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.84 percent, at 3,582.83 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.09 percent lower at 14,344.29 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at around 1.37 trillion yuan (about 211.1 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.28 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Food producers and liquor makers were among the biggest winners while shares related to petroleum and environmental protection lost the most.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.74 percent to close at 3,231.58 points Monday.
