BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.65 percent to 3,261.25 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.62 percent higher at 11,651.83 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 944.7 billion yuan (about 137.1 billion U.S. dollars), down from 981.1 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to hotel and tourism led the gains, while stocks in the media and entertainment sectors suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.50 percent to close at 2,383.04 points Thursday.
